چکیده

Time plays an important role in some application domains, and can be quite difficult to deal with in diagrams. This is not only true for temporal uncertainty, but also for periodic events. We compare nine different representations that include a notion of time or that are mainly used for temporal information: Time Lines/LifeLines, AsbruView, Ganttand PERT-Charts, Shinkansen timetables, Temporal Objects, Sets of Possible Occurrences (SOPOs), the Time Cube and Concentric Circles. Features of the different methods are presented and compared to other representations. This paper is meant to help the designer of a diagram or visualization who has to deal with time get an overview over different design ideas, and maybe get an inspiration for their own ideas.

Comparing Mixed-Integer and Constraint Programming for the No-Wait Flow Shop Problem with Due Date Constraints

The impetus for this research was examining a flow shop problem in which tasks were expected to be successively carried out with no time interval (i.e., no wait time) between them. For this reason, they should be completed by specific dates or deadlines. In this regard, the efficiency of the models was evaluated based on makespan. To solve the NP-Hard problem, we developed two mathematical mode...

Solving Re-entrant No-wait Flexible Flowshop Scheduling Problem; Using the Bottleneck-based Heuristic and Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, we study the re-entrant no-wait flexible flowshop scheduling problem with makespan minimization objective and then consider two parallel machines for each stage. The main characteristic of a re-entrant environment is that at least one job is likely to visit certain stages more than once during the process. The no-wait property describes a situation in which every job has its own ...

َA Multi-objective simulated annealing algorithm to solving flexible no-wait flowshop scheduling problems with transportation times

This paper deals with a bi-objective hybrid no-wait flowshop scheduling problem minimizing the makespan and total weighted tardiness, in which we consider transportation times between stages. Obtaining an optimal solution for this type of complex, large-sized problem in reasonable computational time by using traditional approaches and optimization tools is extremely difficult. This paper presen...
